So...
I guess no-one knows anything about namke yet do they?
namke are a multimedia collective based in York, UK. formed in july 2000, we have various experience in bands, design, theatre, electro-acoustic composition, dance music, and a whole heap of other stuff.
I (john tuffen) thought that a 'blog might be a good idea to capture some thoughts (such that I have) about stuff that happens, and anything else that crosses my mind. the other main member of namke (damian murphy) may also make contributions from time to time.
Anyway, two weeks ago, I thought that this would be a great idea... opened the account and thought "...later..."
yeah, right... it's now two weeks later. Gah! - this website-construction thing is taking up too much time... I got a hosting account, designed the webpages (need to add much more content tho'), and now all we need to do is write some more music.
Easy.
(Actually, I've been listening to some of my 'old' stuff recently (y'know, continuousEvolution and all that?) and some of it is pretty damn good - in fact namke will probably end up releasing some of it!)
So, namke have two websites:
namke came into being because of a digital arts festical being held in York -
SightSonic.
namke performed a two-hour live set on the opening night (20th october, 2000) at an art gallery. it was great. we
rocked.
the gig was recorded, and we are currently in the msatering process before it's release. it is being released as a set of 3" CD-R singles, under the banner butterflies on pins. we intend for it to be an ongoing project, whereby remixes of the original live recordings are released as extensions to the series (thus, b.o.p.06.0 might be remixed, and subsequently released as b.o.p.06.1, etc. etc.).
that's the plan anyway. want to get involved? just email us - remix@namke.com we'll be glad to talk...
'til next time,
john..
